Day 17 - There are lots of ways FREE ways to spread holiday cheer!

Hi everyone! You are all doing so great. So great that you have inspired me to get more creative with the last WEEK of the 2014 Merry Movement. Many people have been extremely generous this year and I wanted to think of some FREE ways to spread holiday cheer.

Here are my ideas (some are stolen from our fellow moment makers):
  • Caroling (The best way to spread Christmas Cheer, is singing loud for all to hear!)
  • Clothing Donations (clean out your closet!)
  • Leave a holiday note for your mail carrier, garbage man, landscaper etc.
  • Bag someone's groceries at the grocery store
  • Stand and hold the door for a dozen people (anywhere!)
  • Clip coupons and leave them on the product for the next customer
  • Donate your TIME to volunteer at the organization for your choice
  • Give blood to the Red Cross
  • Return cans/bottles for a deposit but give the voucher to someone to cash
134. I gave $20 "from Santa" to a teacher I know to buy two students school shirts so they can wear them on school pride day and not feel excluded.

135. A friend picked up things I bought at a store over the phone and delivered them to me so I didn't have to do it alone with my two baby girls.

136. My friend surprised me with coffee when she came to borrow my sewing machine.

137. Brought in holiday treats for my coworkers in a different department.

138. Brought cookies for my basketball team to have on the bus ride.

139. Gave a friend two custom made mugs because I knew she would enjoy them.

140. Have a coke and a smile. Left quarters in the vending machine for the next person.

48. Had an early morning with his basketball team so he brought them all breakfast burritos.

49. Donated canned food to Godfather's holiday food drive.

50. Made a monetary donation to paralyzed veterans.

51. Bought a huge candy cane while grocery shopping and gave it to her cashier with a "Merry Christmas" greeting after she paid.

52. Donated canned foods to troop #55 for the Oregon Food Bank.

53. Paid for the next customer's coffee drink.

54. Crocheted a few scarves and donated them to the local cold shelter.

Day 8 - 12.8

1. {Kenzie} made pumpkin cookies for the bus driver that takes her and a bunch of other students to campus everyday.

2. {Tim} gave a cliff bar from his lunch to the Pepsi Co. delivery man as a nice afternoon treat!

7. {Kyle} was in downtown Portland and parked on the street when a woman pulled in behind him...he paid her his parking and then paid for her parking too! "Oh my gosh, you caught me off guard!" she said. :)

8. {Kyle, Brian, Ben & Gillian} went to Elephant's downtown and bought 4 cookies - each of them gave a cookie to a random person at a table in the restaurant as a Christmas treat.

9. {Daniel} got up very early this morning to clean off the moss on his parent's roof. They will be SO surprised when they get home!

10. {Chris and Kyle} cut JV practice by 20 minutes so the team could surprise the custodial at Highland Park Middle School and cleaned up the leaves in the courtyard.

Day 1 - 12.1

Alright, today is the first day of making merry moments! We have a pretty easy goal...spreading holiday spirit at least ONCE today.

Please leave a comment below with your "merry moment." Send any pictures you have and I will upload this post throughout the day!

1. {Mom} She spread the spirit by purchasing a bag of non-perishable foods to help feed the hungry. She purchased the bag and a volunteer from the Help Us End Hunger program will come pick it up from the grocery store. Awesome!

2. {Kyle} My brother made an attempt to buy a lady's coffee today...but it was not successful. He asked the cashier to keep his card until she paid for the woman's drink that was standing behind him, but the woman INSISTED on paying. :) Maybe next time!

Great first day! Now lets shoot for at least two tomorrow!

Cheers!
